“Dong Suan” means winning an election in Taiwanese. “Dong Suan 2048” is a puzzle game giving you a glimpse of the Taiwan political scene. Like most democracies in the world, money is essential to in Taiwan’s election campaigns. In this game, the player will need to collect money by swiping tiles of the same number at the beginning. Once the denomination of money is larger than 200, the tile begins to represent the writing strokes of the Chinese character “正” whose meanings include “correct” and “accurate”. The character “正” is used to count votes in Taiwan’s elections. Each “正” represents five votes as there are five strokes of it. Two “正” will win you a “neighborhood magistrate”. Two neighborhood magistrates will make a councilperson… and so on. This is typically how the Taiwanese politicians to make it to the top. The leader of Taiwan is a president. However, it is not the highest level of Dong Suan 2048. There is a position higher than the president in the game. Check what it is by yourself.
